Asian markets traded in red in early deals on Monday, saddled by the sharp sell offs in technological sector and on concerns over escalating Middle East tensions. Recent attacks in Middle East have disrupted global supply and spiked oil prices, dulling investor sentiments. Robust US employment data and hawkish Federal Reserve commentary spurred hopes for near-term interest rate cuts, pressuring local indices. South Korea’s KOSPI plunged over two-week low, with the hefty correction in chip-makers.

Nikkei tumbled by 2,514.12 points or 3.78% to 64,074.00, Straits Times plunged by 71.23 points 1.41% to 4,978.73, Hang Seng wilted by 304.95 points or 1.22% to 24,657.00, Taiwan weighted plummeted by 1,511.39 points or 3.35% to 43,559.55, KOSPI Index wilted by 386.61 points or 4.74% to 7,773.98, Jakarta Composite descended by 184.98 points or 3.31% to 5,409.79, Shanghai Composite crashed by 50.91 points or 1.26% to 3,976.83 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI index dipped by 11.33 points or 0.67% to 1,682.10.
