Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Wednesday, saddled by the risk aversion in the market with cautious ahead of the highly-anticipated US Federal Reserve policy decision. Sharp selloffs in AI-related stocks pressured local indices. South Korea’s KOSPI retreated after four straight sessional gains. Stock market of Malaysia is closed for Islamic New Year (Hijri).

Hang Seng down by 79.95 points or 0.33% to 24,414.00, Taiwan weighted slipped by 299.07 points or 0.65% to 45,510.12, Jakarta Composite declined by 20.84 points or 0.33% to 6,234.13 and Shanghai Composite narrowed by 7.35 points or 0.18% to 4,084.54.

On the flip side, Nikkei surged by 750.50 points or 1.08% to 70,155.00, Straits Times rose by 67.19 points 1.31% to 5,184.05, and KOSPI Index up by 65.97 points or 0.76% to 8,792.57.
