Asian markets traded mostly higher in early deals on Thursday, after the United States and Iran officially signed an interim peace agreement to halt hostilities and work toward reopening the critical Strait of Hormuz. Plunging crude oil rates, eased inflation anxieties across import-dependent Asian economies. Rally in financial and technological sector stocks provided a strong boost to regional indices. Japan’s Nikkei soared the most among Asian indices, crossing the historic 71,000 mark for the first time. South Korea’s KOSPI extended gains in the session marking fresh record highs.
Nikkei surged by 1,187.75 points or 1.70% to 71,090.00, Straits Times lifted by 9.55 points 0.18% to 5,186.01, Taiwan weighted jumped by 465.59 points or 1.01% to 46,342.98, KOSPI Index soared by 124.73 points or 1.39% to 8,988.97, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI index higher by 3.78 points or 0.22% to 1,713.77.
On the flip side, Hang Seng tumbled by 412.16 points or 1.70% to 23,900.00, Jakarta Composite plunged by 67.27 points or 1.08% to 6,153.47 and Shanghai Composite narrowed by 15.32 points or 0.37% to 4,092.76.
