State Department Goes Dark After Substation “Event” Cuts Power To DC’s Foggy Bottom

News broke late this morning that Washington’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood had lost power in what local reports describe as an “unscheduled loss of electrical power.”

Local outlet 7News reports that more than 1,100 Pepco customers lost power this morning after an incident at the utility’s I Street Substation.

Daily Wire reporter Mary Margaret Olohan said that some of those customers include multiple State Department facilities.

Pepco’s full statement here

“Pepco is responding to an event at our I Street Substation in the Foggy Bottom area of the District that has resulted in power outages for approximately 1,100 customers. We understand how disruptive an outage can be, and we appreciate our customers’ patience as our crews work to restore service. Pepco crews are on site assessing conditions and are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power. At this time, the cause of the event remains under investigation. Because the situation is still developing, we do not yet have an estimated restoration time. We will share updates as more information becomes available. For their safety, we ask residents and visitors to stay clear of work areas.”

Very suspicious.
